WhatsApp Group:
Before each work camp, a WhatsApp group is created with all parents, counselors, and young people where general information is sent to participants.
Parents also receive photos of the day's activities in this group each evening.

Questions or Concerns:

Parent-Child Communication:
Young people only speak with their parents once during the work camp, on the second Saturday around midday, unless it is a very important matter.

If we have a question or something happens, we will contact the family immediately.

On the registration form, you can authorize (or not) us to take photos of your children to send to you in the WhatsApp group so you can follow their adventures.

We try to take photos of all the young people throughout the day, but we can't always be holding a chart to check if everyone has been photographed. So please be patient: if they don't appear in a photo one day, you'll surely see their happy faces the next.

Let us also remember that in all fields of work, the use of cell phones is regulated:

That is why we will put away the cell phones from the first day and young people will be able to use them for only one hour on Saturday morning.

Don't worry: they will survive!

The truth is that every year we have fantastic groups that build many friendships and team spirit and the young people themselves recognize that it would not be the same with a cell phone in their hands. 

There's a cook during the camping trips, but the young people also help prepare the food in the morning.


Many vegetables come from the garden and are harvested by the campers themselves, which helps them appreciate them when they eat them.
of the food is organic and always cooked fresh, on the spot, and adapted to the week's theme.

We
try to prepare all the ingredients separately so everyone can choose according to their taste.
The vast majority love the dishes, whether simple or more elaborate, that we prepare with love!
Lunches are almost always cold (salads, sandwiches, rice dishes, etc.) because we eat them in the schoolyard in Cornudella de Montsant.
Dinners are more elaborate, with themed menus from different countries around the world.

Water conservation:
During this drought, we must conserve every drop of water.

Personal hygiene:
The young people will shower every other day in the showers at the Cornudella Municipal Pavilion.
The small shower at la Mandorla (the accommodation) will only be used if necessary.
On the other days, they will use wipes for a quick personal hygiene routine.

Sleeping in the yurt:
The young people sleep together in two yurts, one with 10 beds and the other with 15.
On weeknights, we don't let them go to bed late (maximum until 11:30 pm) because they need to get up the next day to be efficient with the technical work.

Nights during festivals and weekends can last much longer…

Nights: temperature and light.
In summer, even if it's hot during the day, the nights are cool and require a sleeping bag.
There is light in the yurts, but you must use your flashlights to go outside to the bathroom.

After 15 years of experience and over 100 organized camping trips, we've had to deal with very few minor accidents. Primary Care

Center (CAP) and Fire Station:
In any case, the Cornudella Primary Care Center (CAP), with doctors, nurses, and an emergency service, is a 7-minute drive from la Mandorla . The fire station is just as close, at the entrance to the town of Cornudella.

First-Aid Kit:
At la Mandorla we have a basic first-aid kit and take the children to the CAP if we have any concerns. We never administer medication without parental authorization and we notify parents immediately if anything happens to their child.

Let us remember that a work camp is in no way similar to a colony . The young people genuinely work five hours a day for the common good. It is a way of giving of themselves without expecting anything in return other than the pride of their own effort. A way of giving something back to the community of our society: "I am, because we are"...

That is why it is very important that young people understand the meaning of volunteering and that they participate in the field of work with enthusiasm and desire!

A stay at la Mandorla is like taking a trip to another part of the world!

The yurts come from Mongolia, the dry bath, the animals and all the self-sufficiency of the place are surely something exotic and very different from everything young people know... It is better then that they prepare themselves in their minds.

It will be the seventh year that we organize this field. Everyone who experienced it in the last few years adapted very well!

But of all the audiences we welcome (children, adults, families...) teenagers tend to be the ones who complain the most... We hope that this group will also surprise us positively and that they will come with spirits curious to know an alternative life model .

The world changes, we have to start making changes too...
